Our little parakeet Perky died last week. We weren't sure how old he was, since we inherited him from my Dad, but we think he was about 8 or 9. We were never able to teach him to talk, but I miss his chatter and twittering. The house has become so quiet...

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember the canary that we had and after my dad passed away, he became my pet. I rarely cried but the day he died, I did cry. He had started to sing again just before.
Oh...I'm very sorry, Marilee.
I took in a parakeet that a family member didn't want.
Sammie had a temper, but I loved the little guy.
I had him for seven years.
I actually heard him make a little sound and then he was gone.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who cried for a bird.
Bob still remembers and talks about the parakeet that his mother had. It was a blue one and it would say "how are you" "pretty boy" "Bobby" and "David." Pets are special members of the family. It's good you have your little dog still with you. Sorry for your loss.
