New Promo Piece - finished

Here's the final piece. I built up layers of watercolor, then darkened linework with pencil and added some Prismacolor pencil. You can see the entire process in reverse by scrolling down!

I print out my line drawing onto Strathmore paper and underpaint the shadow areas with Dioxazine Violet watercolor.

I trace over my sketch in pencil, scan it into my computer and clean up the linework in Photoshop.

I'm working on a new promotional piece, so I thought I'd show a work in progress - how I work from beginning to end. This is my rough sketch. I'm actually working up an illustration from my Dale the Snail picture book dummy.
